Types of Grass Seeds

Listed below is a partial list of the grass seed we have available. If you are looking for something that is not listed her, contact us. We probably have it.

CICER MILKVETCH Lutana
was the first variety of cicer milkvetch released. It is a non bloat legume used in pastures usually mixed with suitable grasses for the soil conditions. Yield data shows it is equal to or slightly greater than alfalfa. Good established stands last longer than alfalfa.

CICER MILKVETCH Monarch
is a newer variety of Milkvetch released that is shown to have better seedling vigor and easier establishment. The other characteristics are the same as the Lutana.

GARRISON CREEPING MEADOW FOXTAIL
Garrison is an irrigated pasture grass especially suitable for wet or sub irrigated land. It is a very strong sod former. Produces hay similar to Timothy in quality and tonnage. Higher yields can be attained with higher applications of nitrogen. Garrison has moderate tolerance to alkaline soil, P. H of 8.5 or less. Excellent hay and pasture for all livestock.

BASIN WILDRYE MAGNAR
Magnar is a tall coarse plant that provides excellent habitat for wildlife or protection for calving sights. In the winter months it will provide forage for livestock and wildlife. Broad leaf and heavy stems stand up to deep snow pack.

BASIN WILDRYE TRAILHEAD
This variety has basically the same uses as the Magnar, but is leafier and is the more palatable of the two varieties.

VOLGA MAMMOTH WILDRYE
is an extremely coarse plant, it was developed to stabilize sand dunes.

CRITANA THICKSPIKE WHEATGRASS
is a fine stem sod forming reclamation grass used in many areas for erosion control, such as roadway or pipeline sights, or any disturbed area. Best when planted in areas of 8" or more rainfall. Also works well for low maintenance or dryland lawns.

WESTERN WHEATGRASS Rosana, Barton, Ariba
This is a sod forming wheatgrass used in soil erosion control. In some areas it will make good dry land pasture and also hays well.

SNAKE RIVER WHEATGRASS Secar
This grass is closely related to Critana, but is a bunch grass. It looks like Blue Bunch in the plant and seed. Good when seeded on steep slopes where Blue Bunch wheatgrass grows native.

GOLDAR BLUE BUNCH WHEATGRASS
is a bunch grass best grown on foothill slopes that are well drained; gravely to loamy soils. Used to reclaim disturbed sights

SLENDER WHEATGRASS Pryor
is an easily established, short term (5 Years or less) life span, used in mixes. It will establish easy and then give way to native grasses. Other varieties include San Louis, Revenue, & Primar

PUBESCENT WHEATGRASS Manska, Luna & Green Leaf
This grass is an easily established dryland pasture grass with early spring growth, good palatability. It produces good dryland hay.

INTERMEDIATE WHEATGRASS Rush, Reliant, Oahe
This seed has the same characteristics as the pubescent wheatgrass, slightly more coarse. It is important to graze early, as it is less palatable as it matures. Good dryland hay.

STREAMBANK WHEATGRASS Sodar
is the most drought tolerant wheatgrass used in dryland reclamation. Also makes good grass for dryland landing strips.

TALL WHEATGRASS Alkar Jose
This is a tall coarse bunch grass with excellent alkali tolerance. Good for the borders in wildlife plantings, in snow catch and cover for wildlife.

CRESTED WHEATGRASS Hycrest Standard ,Fairway Ephraim Roadcrest
Introduced dryland bunch grass with new released varieties having better palatability. Excellent early spring and good fall grazing.

RUSSIAN WILD RYE Bozoisky, Vinal
A bunch grass with aggressive root system. Excellent weed barrier. Once established it is very drought tolerant. Very good early spring grazing and excellent winter grazing.

BEARDLESS WILD RYE Shoshone
This is an aggressive sod former the most alkali tolerant grass known. Potentially high yields in irrigated areas 5 to 6 tons per acre. Good palatability.

MEADOW BROME Regar, Fleet, Paddock, McBeth
This is a very good pasture grass for irrigated or over 15 inches rainfall areas. Produces well for hay in alfalfa grass mixtures. This is grazed well by all livestock.

ORCHARD GRASS Profile, Paiute, Latar
Good pasture grass, newer varieties have good drought and winter hardiness. Best used in irrigated pastures or high rainfall areas. In grass alfalfa mixes it will produce excellent hay.

ALKALI GRASS Nuttal
Small bunch grass will grow in high alkali areas. Has a fine stem and fine seed head. Good for something to grow in tough areas, competes with fox tail barley.

FESCUE ARIZONA Redondo
Fine bunch grass mainly used in high elevation reclamation projects 5,000 feet and up. Closely related to Idaho Fescue. Pretty, ornamental grass.

BLUE GRAMA Birdseye Bad River
This is a drought tolerant warm season bunch grass mainly found in high plains desserts, used for low maintenance lawn plantings. Southern Varieties Alama & Hachita

SHEEP FESCUE Covar
Fine bunch grass, used in mid to high elevation reclamation and some low maintenance lawns

BIG BLUEGRASS Sherman
Fine bunch grass relatively tall for bluegrass. Used in pastures and reclamation.

WHITE PRAIRIE CLOVER Antelope
Native clover to the Rocky Mountain region, important wildlife plant.

NEWHY WHEATGRASS Newhy
is a cross between blue bunch wheatgrass and quack grass. Adaptable to many growing conditions form alkali wetlands to good fam land. Has good seedling vigor and excellent grazing characteristics. Most desirable on problem sights where other grasses will not grow.

CROWNVETCH Chemung, Penngift
This is a spreading legume that is mainly used in ornamental and roadside plantings. It produces a fragrant pink blossom.

INDIAN RICE GRASS Rimrock, Nezpar, Paloma; Dryland foothills bunch grass
Very ornamental, native to high plains of the Rock Mountain region.
